The Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmers’ Market is an initiative of the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association, and as such, is largely dependent on the kindness of our volunteer base.
If you want to help make our farmers’ market the best market in the city, and have some time and energy to do so, we’d love to hear from you. We will try our best to match your interests with our needs. Snacks and beverages will be provided, as well as a volunteer appreciation party nearing the end of the market season in October.
Volunteer Opportunities
ONGOING:
Poster / Flyer Distribution – each week during market season, a few days prior to market day, posters and / or flyers may need to be distributed to households, businesses and community bulletin boards. Volunteer needed to help with distribution.
Set Up - market days, 12:30-1:30; volunteers may commit to one or more weeks. Volunteer needed with general site set-up before the market opens.
On Site Parking Advisor - market days, 4:00 – 6 pm; volunteers may commit to one or more weeks. Volunteer needed to direct patrons to alternative parking areas when the HSCA parking lot is full.
Bouncy Castle Attendant - market days, 3 – 7 pm, shift can be split. 1+ volunteers required to ensure no more than the maximum number of children can be in the castle at one time.
Balloon Attendant - market days, 3 – 7 pm, shift can be split. 1+ volunteers required to blow up helium balloons for people at the market
SIGNS!
Someone to help put out signs for farmers market either with a vehicle or bike trailer ( signs a heavy!) after noon on market days and to assist in picking them up at 7 pm.
HSCA TABLE
Two individuals to help out with the HSCA Farmer’s Market table and to assist in filling helium balloon and giving them to kids for donation.
